recently my freezer has a bad smell, like rotting fruit, when I open the door. It's also in the fridge somewhat, but mainly the freezer. I can smell it when I open the front door. I cleaned the freezer and there was a brown spill or stain on the shelf which I cleaned but the smell is still there.
Answer:
Take out all the shelves and scrub every shelf and shelf support with hot water and a bit of as mild a detergent as you can find. If the shelves are on tracks, that may be where the smell is coming from.
