I have heard you say that you do not believe it to be a good idea to run a sump pump into a septic system. I have lived with this system for 16 years with no problems. However a neighbor tells me that I should change it. I cannot run it to the ditch in front as my basement is well below the ditch level. I could run it on the surface in the back with little work involved. What do you think, interested in knowing why it should not go into the septic system.
Answer:
I just feel that in order for bacterial action to continue in a septic system, water is one of the last things you need to mix with ordinary waste. When bacterial action stops, everything in there just putrefies and that doesn't break things down very readily. To my un-educated way of thinking, that would turn the whole weeping bed and tank into a cesspool.
