Question:
we live in the country, in a 30 yr old house, on a well and septic system. During spring runoff, if there is a power failure, we end up bailing the water out of the sump hole until the power comes back on, to save the basement from flooding. Is there a way to direct the water away from the house not into it
Answer:
No really because the run-off coming into the sump hole is more from the drainage tiles along the foundation perimeter and under the floor than anything else. You can though, get a battery operated sump pump unit. It will not be cheap.
