We have a 30 yr. bungalow with gas hot water heating. Two years ago we put in duct work for air conditioning. At that time they installed an flow through humidifier attached to the AC ducts and fed it from the normal hot water system in the house so the water would disperse quicker when the fan was running during the winter months. The solenoid controlling the on/off flow of water has had to be replaced twice due to malfunctions. Rather than replacing the solenoid again I am wondering if you can advise me of a better system to humidify with.
Answer:
Supply the humidifier with cold water rather than heated water that has already picked up a variety of impurities as it traveled through the system. I believe your ownership manual also asks for cold water. This may be the reason.
