Question:

We are replacing some old 1972 wood windows in our home. We are changing the r.o. to maximize our view. In the Kitchen we would like to install a bow window, and in the dining room we would like to replace the window with a patio slider or gerden doors. Any advise? We would like a dark colour for the exterior, and white for the interior. We were thinking wood, with Aluminium cladding. Any suggestions for Manufactures, and or installers? We would like Canadian and even better, someone local. We are in Ottawa, Ontario.

One more concern we have, is with condensation occuring in our unheated garage from our dryer duct. Our gas heated dryer is on the main floor approximatly 6ft. away from our garage. The exhaust/duct runs up the interior partition, thru the ceiling and up into the garage truss space to the exterior. The width of the unheated double garage which the duct runs above is approx. 20'. We wrapped a foil incased insulation wrap around the duct and sealed all joints yet at the dew point/condinsation point we still drip!! What else can we do to rectify this problem?

Answer:

The extruded vinyl window is about taking over the market and you own research will be best to inform you of its values. I do not deal in brand names or companies for work to be done so you'll have a bit more research to do there.

Get that dryer venting to the outside before it does real damage to your garage attic. Each time you put a load in there, you are adding a gallon of water to the attic atmosphere and it just cannot tolerate that.
