I am renovating the laundry room area in my basement and would like to know if the dryer venting can be put between the studs and under the wallboard or if it should remain outside the finished wall. Will the heat from the vent be a problem if the venting is put in the studs? Which venting is best, the aluminum or the plastic? The wall will be finished with drywall and will have fibreglass insulation.
Answer:
By all means put the ducts inside the wall but make sure they're rigid, metal ducts with all seams and joints taped. You want as few elbows as possible.
