Question:

We live in Nova Scotia and are planning a two week vacation in February. We only have wood heat so the house will be unheated for that time. How do we prepare our house before we leave so that we don't return to a disaster. (We are on a drilled well with a submersible pump.)

Answer:

There will have to abe someone going into the house on a daily basis for insurance validity purposes anyway so you might take that into account. Other than that, you have to go through a complete shut down: pressure system, drain plumbing traps and fill with plumbing antifreeze, empty water closets, toilets, treat the dish washer like the sinks, hot water tank, etc.

Unfortunately,to date, the show has not been picked up by any other maritime station but we're working on it.
