Question:

Is it normal to have ice on the gas stack/chimney on the roof of the house? The ice has accumulated around the base of the stack. We have never noticed it before, and to the best of our knowledge, this has never happened in the past. Is this problematic, or normal?

Answer:

To my way of thinking, anything that changes what a gas fixture of any kind looks like is problematic. I know nothing about appliances and gas appliances in general, I feel, need the eyes and hands of a professional serviceman.
