Question:

I ahve a new one of these installed on my furnace. There is a clear plastic hose running to the drain. I notice whenever the rheostatic switch is turned on that water is flowing continually into the drain. I am finding that the most economical way to use this is to turn it on only at night and shut it off again in the morning to conserve water. Should there be such a continuous flow of water---I have been setting it on the minimum setting?

Answer:

I've no heard of such a continuous flow and your ownership manual should confirm that this is not right. You may need to talk again with the installer.
