Question:

I recently bought a new house and could not find any information from your publications on furnace filters. For good home maintenance, is there a recommended type to buy? I am a bit confused about the 3 for $2 you can get versus the $16 brand that is 1250 microns. Does the microns differ? What should I look for? And what can help me decide what I should buy versus what is overkill?

Answer:

Your furnace, like everybody elses, will have certain requirements for the filter and your ownership manual will be best to advise you on it. I know many of the various types on the market will fit but I don't know enough about furnaces to be able to tell you if one will work better than another without effecting the longevity of the furnace itself.
