Question:

Hi Ren,
Thanks for this forum, it's a great asset to home owners et al. We have a mobile home with a gas hot water tank in closet. It was installed and inspected by the gas company so there shouldn't be safety issues. We have a problem during very cold winter days/nights with (east winds) freezing water pipes adjacent to hot water tank that run along the outside wall of mobile home.
Can we place a heat fan next to gas hot water tank to keep the pipes from freezing on these cold days/nights or would that be a safety hazard?

Answer:

A Gas Fitter I am not. You'll have to check this out with your local Fitter and the ownership manual that comes with the heating unit. I have gas furnaces and fireplaces myself but the thermostat is as technical as I ever get with them.
