I have an old house that I just bought. Water radiator heated. There is a unit in our bedroom that has started to vibrate slightly and make a constant noise. The bleed valve is broken. What can I do? Also, I have a large bay window radiator in another room which only gets heat for the first couple of inches. The bleed value is broken and the only remedy I have it to take the value out and water pours out like a fountain.
Answer:
Let's be a bit careful here because joints in the old rads can crystalize over years of service and if you turn a wrench to them, they can snap off and you have a flood that comes in under pressure. The rads have all to be bled at least twice a year. I'd get a professional to deal with this.
