Question:

I have an elevated bungalow and have 2 layers of shingle on the main roof and one on the attached garage. I want to put a steel roof on and the contractor said it could go over the shingles. Is this correct? If not what do you recommend.

Answer:

This will depend a on who the manufacturer is. You can either seek out an installation brochure from them or look up their site on the WWW. I'm reluctant to accept the interpretation of the installer on things like this. Besides everything else, your product warranty will be effected by how it is installed.
