Question:

We are having a new roof put on our home. It has what the locals call a dormer. It has roofing shingles on the side and a window that doesn't open in the front. We would like to put a vent where the window is and board and batten on the sides. Should this be done before the roofing or after?

Answer:

I'd do it after the roofing if you're not having anything done to the soffit and fascia but if you are, this could be a first project to make the others easier.
