Question:
Its time to install a new shingle roof for my house. Besides the due diligence on the contractor and insurance, could you please let me know what I should be asking for the new roof. I hear on your shows you talk about ice and water shields, etc. Also the house is on a hill and we have a high wind factor with some shingles blowing off once in a while; so besides the durability factor for the shingles is there anything special they have against high winds.

The 20-year asphalt shingle is the most cost effective shingle on the market today. Other than that, when you get your three quotes (minimum) you'll be able to compare who is doing the better job.
