Question:

I would like you opinion on purchasing a new roof, these salesmen are worse than car salesmen and I am confused and don't want to make a huge mistake. First, what is your opinion on fiberglass shingles in the Ontario climate and are they worth a premium? Second, I have a single layer of shingles and they are flat with no curls, I am getting conflicting opinions on whether to strip current roof off or to go over top.

Answer:

The most cost effective shingle on the market is the 20-year asphalt product and no matter what one uses, all the old stuff should be removed first.
