We received a roofing estimate and the roofer examined the shingles and said because they are in good shape and lay flat he can put the new shingles over the old ones and it will be approx. half the price. Our house is approx. 19 yrs. old and the new roof will be the first replacement. Do you know of any problems we may encounter if we place new shingles over the old ones and is this the customary practice?
Answer:
This is by no means customary practice and no shingle manufacturer recomends it so you might give it more thought.
