I am looking at replacing my roof in the near future. If I use steel do I have to remove the existing shingle roof? I am told by the dealers selling steel roofing that one advantage of going steel is that the existing roof can stay. What is your opinion.

Find the manufacturer's web site and follow thier recommendation because some differ in application to others and I would not want to be advised by someone who is clearly in a conflict of interest.
