Question:

We live in a house built about 100 years ago; you did the pre-purchase inspection on it. The time has come for us to do some major work. We need a new roof. We need to replace the brickwork on 2 chimneys (these were only partially replaced 15-20 years ago & something was applied to them a few years ago to help prevent them from spewing pieces onto our poor neighbors driveway) that are again starting to drop pieces of brick onto the neighbors property. The house is in need of a complete paint job and we would like to have the brickwork cleaned professionally. Please advise us in what order you would perform these tasks.

Answer:

Try bringing up www.homhelpnet.com for a complete list of credible contractors. As far as the chimneys go, you might be better off to have them taken down to the roof line level so the difference in size and colour of the new bricks lose a bit of their prominence.
