I have a 7 year old row unit that faces south. I get a build up of ice ever year on the noth side. I have tried removing the snow a few times every year and have added ice melting product such a Urea.The vent cap are fine. What can i do? I was thinking of addind some ice melting cables. Or should i add more insulation.

Better ventilation under the roof deck would help but the heating cables will cut the life of your shingles because they tend to embrittle them.
