You did a pre-purchase inspection for us in 1991 when we bought our house in Ottawa (ON). The back part of the 2-storey house has one bedroom over the kitchen and family room on the main floor. There is a skylight in the kitchen and also in the bedroom. The south exposure of the roof is prone to ice buildup and then when it starts to melt we get water leaking through the kitchen ceiling. Where do we start with repairs and what kind of specialist should we be contacting - a roofer, insulation installer, drywall specialist??

You start with a roofer of good reputation and follow his advice and I suggest you contact him as soon as you can because once the snow is gone, much of the tracking also becomes harder.
