I had a heavy ice buildup down a valley on the roof and on to the gutter. Water came inside just below and to the side of this ice. Would the best remedy be deicing cable? Where should I put deicing cable--down the valley, on the shingles, or just in the gutter and downspout?
Answer:
I'd put it only in the guttes and downspout but I'd also apply urea to the ice that's on the roof.
