Question:

We are building a garage, and didn't get the roof shingled before the snow came. Now we're wondering what we should do - It's at or below zero right now. Should we shingle it anyway? The doors aren't in yet - we just got the walls and trusses up and the roof covered with "osb" sheeting. The snow has melted off the roof. Do we go ahead and shingle or should we protect it some other way, until spring?

Answer:

Once you're at this stage, you have little choice but to apply the ice and water shield, the black building felt, the ridge vent and then shingles while the snow is still holding back.
