I live in a home in the Crystal Beach area of Ottawa (ON). The house was built in 1960 and has a flat roof. In in one particular spot in the front of the house an enormous amount of water drains off the roof onto the driveway. So much water drains off here that the asphalt has been worn away. This area is in front of the carport and water is also making its way into the rear of the carport and the asphalt has several 'potholes' as a result (I presume).
I would like to have this situation fixed, can you tell me if I need to speak to a roofer or would installing eavestroughing along the front of the house be a reasonable solution (is eavestroughing even appropriate for a flat roof?).
Answer:
On flat roofs we normally install scuppers in the appropriate spots so I'd have a roof er check that out first. I have seen gutters on flat roofs too but the scupper is much more appropriate.
