My roof is now 13 years old and it leaks at the skylights on my cathederal ceiling and in winter over my windows. I want to replace the shingles with coloured tin and was wondering if the tin can be put on over the shingles, Or does there have to be an airspace with strapping or do the shingles have to come up?

How metal on a roof is installed depends very much ont he manufacturer so read the brochure because each manufacturer has an ever so slightly different approach to this.
