Question:

Wind storms have loosened the original metal sheath roofing causing it to be noisy. I would like to replace roof with peaked metal roofing but have difering advice from contractors as to how to do it. Should the exsisting roofing be removed? Is it alright to have prefab trusses put over exsisting roof, then apply new sheathing? How about ventilation? Dimensions 14'X72'. Great show Ren,listen to you whenever I can... :)

Answer:

About the only real no no is putting new roofing over the existing without proper ventilation. Other than that, you should check with the manufacturer of the new product because many of them have very specific methods that are unique to themselves. Let's not waste money on a job this big.
