Question:

AM I EVER GLAD THERE IS A SHOW OUT THERE LIKE YOURS FOR ALL OF US HOMEOWNERS WHO WANT SOME PROFESSIONAL IMPARTIAL ADVICE TO WHAT WE THINK ARE UNIQUE PROBLEMS THAT HAPPEN JUST TO US.BUT BY LISTENING TO YOU EVERY WEEKEND I'VE FOUND OUT JUST HOW ORDINARY
AND COMMON MOST OF OUR EVERYDAY HOME EXPERIENCES ARE.I HAVE MOSS GROWING ON THE SHELTERED PART OF MY ROOF (NORTH SIDE)THERE ARE NO TREES OR ANYTHING ELSE STANDING IN THE WAY OF THE CIRCULATION,AND AS OUR HOUSE IS IN THE COUNTRY ON 40 ACRES THERE ARE NO OTHER BUILDINGS AROUND EITHER.THE SHINGLES ARE 18 YEARS OLD SO IT WILL SOON BE TIME TO REPLACE THEM AS I AM FINDING SHINGLE STUBBLE IN THE EAVES MORE EACH YEAR. IAM WONDERING WHAT I SHOULD DO.

Answer:

It's quite unusual for moss to grow in a situation like this so I'm suspecting a bit of a lack in attic ventilation. To get rid of the moss, you can wash it off with a bleach solution and when the shingles are repalaced, you might consider a baffled ridge vent.
