Question:

I need to build a beem out of 2x10 the span is 13 feet. the beam supports the wall by my bedroom the wall is non load bearing The floor joists for the 2nd floor will be 2x10 screwed to the excisting 2x6 that span 16 feet how many 2x10 do I need to use?

Answer:

If thee is no load on it, I'd probably use three but keep in mind, I am a handyman and not a professional so I overkill things. I'd also fasten them together with white glue and 3" screws.
