Question:

I have an apartment and I am looking for recommendations for flooring in the bedroom and living room. It was suggested I switch to parquet flooring instead of carpet, since some people have allergies etc. My concern is the temperature of the floor and that it might cause problems later with tenants saying the apartment is cold when really it is just the floor. 1. which would you recommend - carpet or a hard wood floor or something else? 2. If hardwood any suggestions on what to look for? 3. If carpet, what is best for a long lasting? 4. And finally, any recommendations on what companies to contact for a good, cheap job?

Answer:

In your position, I'd probably wait until a potential tenant voices a preference for carpet or hardwood because all of it can be done in a single day. If its going to be wood, it should be pre-finished and if its carpet, it can be one that is meant for commercial use because you still have the beauty of it and it is much more lasting. As for companies that do this kind of work, I've found in the past that I could not afford cheap so I went with whoever was going to give the best service.
