My cottage is situated in a heavily wooded area. Consequently, in the spring, all the buds from the leaves fall into the evestroughs and make their way through the drainage pipes. This is the first spring that we have the cottage (newly built). This weekend, I found that 2 of the drainage pipes leading away from the cottage were pretty well clogged up with leaf buds. In the fall, I imagine I will get a lot of leaves making their way through.
My question is this: will the buds and leaves clog up the drainage pipes ( "O") rings to the point that water will be unable to flow through them, thereby rendering them useless. If so, what is your suggestion to prevent this?
Answer:
You can put grills on the gutters to keep leaves and other debris out but whether you do or not will have no effect on drainage tile around the footings.
