On a recent home inspection,we were stumped as to why there was no access anywhere to the attic area. My inspector was unable to find what was up there,also no ventilation in bathroom with some mold problems.This house was about 37 years old.Was it built wrong.

It could well have been but you'll have to gain access to that attic to confirm or refute that.
