I constructed an 8ft high fence utilizing metal stakes vs. inground concrete. Neat short term solution but bad long term. I was not counting on 80 mile per hour winds during the winter. Needless to say, I need to stabilize the fence. The question is what is the best way short of dismantling? What about installing sister posts (concreted) and then attaching to the original posts? Please warn your listeners not to go this route. The fence is in the shape of a "U" with two corners.
Answer:
If a post does not go down past the frost line, it will not be dependable and you just proved it. You are into sister posts with the metal spike removed and the existing posts bolted to the sisters.
