Question:

We had a new basement installed but have not yet had the concrete floor poured. Could we install a wooden floor as opposed to concrete. We noticed that it is very dry and mainly sand and gravel. If so, how do we go about it?

Answer:

It is but you'll have to get in touch first with your local building authority because all kinds of things come into the decision; what was used as backfill, how high is the water table at various times of year, the actual integrity of the foundation walls, etc.
