I saw your homefocus in the local newspaper and thought I would give it a try. I am hoping to install a aquarium between two rooms of my 3 level spilt. I am wondering how I assess if the wall I am installing the aquarium into is a main supporting wall. The hole I need to cut is 60" long. the wall I am cutting into is 10'long. Any suggestions or advice.
The best indicator is having a wall directly above the one in question and running in the same direction. If you have that, you should expect another wall directly under it, also running in the same direction. Support has to start at the basement floor and telescope all the way up. If that is your situation, give some thought to replacing the support you have with beams.
