I have a new home built in 1995. It was very wet and humid that year and the house is exceptionally tight. We have had mildew and mold growing on our inside windows and rust appearing on the beading of the dry wall corners. We are seldom in the home except for weekends and I have left windows cracked to aid in the removal of moist air. I have also added a fresh air exchanger on our furnace however the odour remains and I wonder if there is anything else I can do to freshen the air.
Answer:
If the crawl space floor is dirt, you'll never dry it out with any system. If its concrete, the whole house can be dried out by using a fan system but that system will have to take the cold, moist air off the basement floor too. The best way I've found for that is to open a basement window slightly and turn a fan on against a wall at the opposite end of the basement.
