Light layer of black smoke damage in BR, white stippled ceiling, corner wall burned on surface only, ruined wallpaper but wall looks ok, just very black. How to clean stippled ceiling and what treatment to put on burned spots on wall before painting or rewallpapering? How about smell...got in other parts of house.

Get in touch with a local insurance sales rep. and you'll be able to find out what their 'post fire contractors' are using. Stain deadening paints are readily available to anyone but some of the odour killing products may require licensed operators so be very careful here. The stain deadeners will probably require a base paint over them before you paint again.
