My wife and I are considering buying a 3 year old home in Waterloo, Ontario. There is however, one concern as follows. In the laundry room in the basement we have noticed a large crack on the concrete floor. The crack is about 6 feet long, one-eighth inch wide at one end and narrows to a hairline crack at the other end. It also has a number of spider cracks from this maim crack. This is the only crack that we have notced in the laundry room area. How serious is this and can this deteriorate into a more serious problem or cause other problems?
Answer:
If there is no water staining around it, there should not be a great problem but any crack can develop. Get the house pre-purchase inspected.
