Question:

We have three quotes from reputable landscapers to provide an interlock front walkway and ashpalt paved driveway. One of the contractors proposes a start date of between April 15 and April 30th. Is that reasonable with respect to potential frost problems. They do provide a written guarantee with their work and I have checked them out at the BBB (clean record)? Any thoughts would be helpful.

Answer:

Because they'll have to excavate to at least a 12" depth, you should have no problem. Problems arise when frost goes deeper than the excavation and in mid-April, I hope frost will not be penetrating that far.
