Question:

We hired a company to paint our home exterior. They used a pressure washer to prep the surface. We suffered water damage where the water was forced in at a door threshold and at 3 windows (they slide open horizontally). The caulking around the window exterior is intact. At the door and at one window, a significant amount of water (?1 gallon plus) came in. The contractor states they've never had this happen and are trying to blame the windows and door. Any thoughts?

Answer:

One of the reasons we hire professionals to do painting is so we don't end up pumping water into the house as the job is being prepared! It is up to them to ensure that their equipment is compatable with the scope of work described in the contract. You may need a lawyer's letter to make this point to the contractor.
