I have a nasty mess on my driveway caused by a very leaky engine. The driveway is tarmac and it has soaked in to make the tarmac soft. My husband jack hammered the last piece of driveway out that had got oil on it. Is there another method without these drastic measures?

If you're dealing with tarmac, you have little choice but to cut out the stain and repair. If the area is larger than 6"X6", you might even get a pro to drop by and do the repair because short of that, you'll probably be repairing it twice (or more) per year.
