I have a fireplace in the living room, the mantle is made of beige or (tan) brick. On the front of the mantle there is smoke stains (black dirty looking) on the brick that has accumulated of the pass 20 years. What can I do to remove it from the brick and make the brick look clean again?

Believe it or not, that will come off with hot soapy water and a stiff bristled floor brush.
