Question:

I have the traditional flat, square style roof vent. Birds are nesting inside on the wire mesh. I need to remove the entire vent to get rid of the nest since the cap is rivetted on. How can i prevent the birds from coming back?

Answer:

Rather than removing the whole thing, just lift the hood so you can get rid of the debris and then push it back down again so it ends up an inch or so above the screen. They won't nest in a small cavity like that.
