Top > Vents > Cold Room

Question:

In a number of your responses to questions dealing with Cold rooms, you discuss the 4” vent holes in the exterior walls. My new home has a large cold room under the front porch but the builder neglected to cut holes in the exterior walls. Are the vent holes essential, and if so, how many and where should they be located. Love your show and newsletter.

Answer:

If the floor space in the cold room is 50 square feet of more, you should have a 4" hole at each end. Anything less than that and one 4" hole should suffice but you do have to put in the ducts.

In the interests of retaining credibility and in fairness to all, I cannot recommend prices, people nor companies for various projects.
