Question:

Could you give me some advise on installing a ceiling bathroom exhaust fan. It will be located in our main bathroon on the second floor. should the pipe to the roof vent be located directly above the fan, which would place it very close to the valley point were the two parts of the roof meet, or would it be better to have a bend in the pipe and move the pipe away from this valley?

Answer:

Move it several feet from there and make sure you have at least one and prefferably two elbows in the duct. You must also ensure that the duct is well insulated so steam doesn't condense within it. When that stuff drips down your back as you dry off after a shower it can launch you into next week.
