Today a lady called who had a wash stand with a strong mildew odour. Thought I'd share what I did with a wooden leash box I was given that had been kept in a damp basement. This box had compressed wood fibre dividers which had really absorbed that awful mildew odour! I scrubbed it out a couple of times with bleach figuring that that should kill the mildew but the smell lingered on even after it had been left to air for a week. As a dog groomer I sometimes use a 50/50 mix of original formula listerine mouthwash and water to kill that 'wet dog' odour on some of the hound breeds. I sprayed the interior of my leash box with this mix - it killed the odour and it has yet to return (this was 6 mos. ago)! The box did have a 'fresh breath smell *grin* for about a month but that was better than mildew.
Answer:
It's the first I've heard of the system but it sounds like a good, inexpensive environmentally friendly, system.
