I have a 4' dirt floor crawl space that I covered with 6mil plastic as well as the walls. I know the walls should be insulated but they are block walls that get damp.Would it be wise to leave my vapour barrier on the walls'insulate and put another layer of vapor barrier over that.( vapor barrier always on warm side)There wasn't any barrier at all in the basement when i moved in so i have a musty smell probably right in the wood.can i use listerine and water to get rid of smell?.
Answer:
As long as you have moisture down there you'll have that musty smell and if you add another vapour barrier, it will get worse. You have to ventilate the crawl space and that should look after most of the odour.
