I like to finished my raise ranch basement with carpet. The house is 4 years old with concret (cement) floor basement and about 3 feets underground..There are some hair line crack on the floor due to settling but never had water., I am thinking to seal the cement floor with concret sealer before laying down the carpet..

I don't see a problem wiht any of that but I would not put an underpad down. I know you lose the warranty ont he carpet if you don't but I just don't want anything down there if there's a chance that it will soak up moisture and create mildew.
