I have a walk-out basement with 9 foot ceilings. The floors have cracked a bit, but I have not seen any moisture in the basement yet.I have found a product called (?)which they say can help you with a sub floor while using about an inch of extra space. I was planning on laying this material down, then covering it with 3/8" OSB. I have read in other posts, that you are not a big fan of sub floors, and I figured you could give me some advice on this product, and why you dont prefer using sub floors. I dont think I really want to get into a floor leveling compound, because it seems to be quite expensive, and I would probably need alot of it.
Answer:
I don't believe in sub-floors because they close off air movement between two impermeables (concrete slab and sheets of composite board and if moisture (including condensation) ever gets in there, it tends to stay and met musty. This, besides providing habitation for all kinds of million-legged little things. I'm afraid I'm not into brand names of any kind so on the other stuff you'll have to do more research.
