Question:

We are going to be renovating our basement in a large bungalow, approximately a 1,200/1,500 sq. ft area. Our house is two years old, rural with well and septic,
and there is some settling with some cracks. No water has come in, although there is some indication of moisture with a powdering white substance along both sides of the cracks. We know that you often recommend peal and stick tiles, but are wondering if there might be a problem with the situation we are describing? Alternatively, would ceramic tiles be another option?
Whether putting down ceramic tile would be a good, longer lasting solution?

Answer:

As long as you're dealing with a potential water problem you'll be better off to deal with ceramic tile than anything else and you may still have a problem.
