Question:

Thanks for the advice on insulating my crawl space. One other quick question, for the circumstances I described in my previous e-mail, what is the best type of insulation to use for the basement walls? I had intedned to use one of the foam types, but I was told that they had to be "enclosed" in something (sheet rock for example-this is generally unsuitable because of dampness in th ecrawl space)

Answer:

I see nothing wrong with putting VB over insulation, in fact its a necessity but enclosing it in anything that does not breath, I see everything wrong with. I won't use the foams because some of them may be temperature sensitive and shink back exactly when I need them the most.
